In the Land of Retinal Delights: The Juxtapoz Factor was an exhibition that presented the work of 150 artists and posited that there has been a huge, but unacknowledged art movement taking place in this country for the last 40 years.
Since 1994, Juxtapoz Magazine has provided a forum for so called Low-Brow artwork inspired by comics, hot rods and popular culture — and has become, in the years since, the most widely read art magazine in North America.
Juxtapoz provides a voice and validation for a brand of artist, like Mark Ryden, Coop, Camille Rose Garcia, Shepard Fairey and many others, who have not historically been accepted by the typical art-world infrastructure of collector, curator, and critic.
This exciting and provocative collection presents a group of artists who rejected traditional rules of the art establishment and created their own canon, known as the Juxtapoz School.
